School dismissing at 12:30 today

For the record, Columbus Day is not a break now, one day off last week took that away. Also, MLK JR day was last year, but not this year. One single calendar will not satisfy everyone. If you have problems with it, take it to the board next spring come calendar time. I think it sucks, too!

Now TODAY is one of those days that getting early is definately okay in my book. Record or near record temps expected...HINT, lol. The higher elevations won't be AS hot of course (just lower 90s [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif[/img] ), but many other areas are expected to be in the mid and upper 90s with heat indicies 98-103. That's getting up there now for this area. When your getting to record highs, that should tell you something haha. The hottest ever at the Tri-cities airport is what? 102? So... And I don't think they've even hit 100 but just a few times. I seen one forecast for my area saying 98.... We're in quite a heat wave. It doesn't help matters when your in an extreme drought scenario too, with little soil moisture. Hopefully the cool down expected for around Labor Day will hold this time. I can fully understand today lol.

It was 98 here in Big Stone yesterday according to my computer. I have the Weatherbug located in Wise and also The Weather Channel in Big Stone. It is always much hotter here in the Gap.

It always seems at least 5 degrees hotter at my house in BSG than anywhere else in the county. Of course I have no trees and it makes it near unbearable outside my house.

I don't understand either why the rush to close out the semester so early. Norton City Schools have exams in January and it does not seem to matter to them. They start back a week later than the county but they also have air conditioning in both schools. I agree until the air conditioning situation is corrected in all schools wait until after Labor Day to start.
